Summer is hot in Houston, TX. That heat poses its own unique challenges to families who want to hit the road for a destination vacation in their new Ford SUVs.

Tires are more likely to blow out in the hot summer months, thanks to low air pressure and overheating. Batteries, too, take a toll in temperatures above 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Other than being locked out of your car, which isn't something preventative maintenance can help, these are the two biggest culprits in roadside breakdowns reported by AAA.

Avoid being stranded with these tips:

  • Schedule a service appointment to have your battery and tires inspected
  • Keep a spare tire in the car, and make sure it is in good condition
  • Pack an emergency kit
  • Never drive distracted or drowsy. Find a safe place to park to make phone calls or take a nap.

AAA estimates it will provide emergency roadside assistance to over 7 million motorists this summer, but with help from Mac Haik Ford, you don't have to be one of them.
