Ford cryptically tweeted earlier this month about plans to add four new SUVs to the lineup. If you've been to Mac Haik Ford Inc. recently, and checked out our new vehicles in Houston, TX, you probably noticed... we already have a lot of SUVs and crossovers.

Why is Ford adding more?

One sneaky suspicion we have is that a few of these four will be electric models. So far the company offers a hybrid sedan, and a hybrid hatchback, but no hybrid SUV. The four-year timing also lines up perfectly with Ford's announcement to release 13 new electric nameplates.

Electricity aside, crossover SUV is the strongest segment in US sales, according to Business Insider. They are the new go-to starting car for families, retain loyalty from older drivers, and have a wider appeal thanks to improvements in fuel economy and falling gas prices.
